In Handan, a city steeped in history, a new chapter is unfolding. As part of the NIHAO! CHINA Asian Tour Operators' China Trip, the Handan stop and the "Show the World Handan" Asian Tour Operators Exchange Conference from August 18 to 20 gave international partners a close look at the city's culture, history, and landscapes, while providing new momentum for its inbound tourism.
The event was hosted by the Bureau of International Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, supported by the Hebei Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and jointly organized by the Handan Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism and Trip.com Group. Over three days, more than 30 delegates explored the city's highlights: strolling through the Handandao Historical and Cultural District, watching the lively Daming Yingge Dance, savoring the Daming Banquet, discovering the Xiangtangshan Caves, and taking in the views of the East Taihang Scenic Area. The trip gave participants a deeper sense of Handan's unique identity as both the "Capital of Chinese Idioms" and the "Home of Tai Chi."
On August 20, the "Show the World Handan" Exchange Conference was held at the Kaiyuan Mingdu Hotel. Local cultural and tourism officials presented Handan's heritage, natural scenery, and new initiatives to improve visitor experiences, extending a warm invitation to the world with the message: "So close, so beautiful—come to Hebei for the weekend."
Tour operator representatives expressed strong interest in partnering with Handan to design themed travel products for Asian markets. They hope to bring more travelers to experience Handan firsthand and share the city's cultural stories with a wider audience across the region.
The Handan stop of the NIHAO! CHINA program further strengthened the connection between this 3,000-year-old city and the Asian travel market. Looking ahead, Handan will continue to draw on its distinctive assets—its wealth of idioms, its Tai Chi heritage, and the natural beauty of the Taihang Mountains—to create tourism products that appeal to international audiences. With improved inbound services and a growing international profile, Handan is positioning itself as a destination ready to welcome the world.
